William M. Murray

William M. Murray is an attorney specializing in residential and commercial real estate transactions, land use and zoning law, environmental law, community development, and non-profit management. During his more than thirty-year career, Mr. Murray has represented or served as legal counsel for dozens of municipalities, commercial real estate developers, urban planning professionals, and non-profit organizations.

Mr. Murray is also an Adjunct Professor at SUNY Buffalo Law School and SUNY Buffalo School of Architecture and Planning. His courses include Planning Law, Contemporary Issues in Land Use Planning, and Legal Issues in Planning and Development. 

Mr. Murray recently served as Vice President of the Forest Lawn Group, a non-profit business organization managing cemetery facilities throughout upstate New York. Prior to that, Mr. Murray served as Deputy Commissioner in the Erie County Department of Environment and Planning, where he was responsible for managing the planning, community development and environmental compliance functions of County government.

Mr. Murray also served as General Counsel to the Town of Amherst Industrial Development Agency, was Assistant Town Attorney for the Town of Amherst, NY, and chaired the Town of Amherst Zoning Board of Appeals. 

He holds a B.A. degree from the University of Notre Dame and a J.D. degree from the University of Detroit-Mercy School of Law. He lives in Williamsville, New York.
